This is still the exact same Tubelord that's always been here with well-crafted twists and turns and hidden melodies that have infinite replay value. Simon Nagy Prefer the creative songwriting of their first album to the synthie-sounds on this one, but still: it's Tubelord. Favorite track: ignatz.

Phill May For all the talent on show, Tezcatlipōca didn't work for me. With this, they reminded me just what was so good about them. Bursting at the seams with ideas, they reigned in indulgence and cracked out hooks galore. Music that makes you "just wanna dance" is rarely this intelligent. It didn't work out though, and now they're gone. The UK is worse off for it. Favorite track: here is nothing.

Certainly a controversial direction for the band, but this album ultimately rests as my favorite from TTNG. The technical mastery of their previous albums is still present here along with some very thought provoking and philosophical lyrics. I may not always agree with the lyrical messaging, but this is an album which rewards careful listening. Syobnaf
